Julie Alvarez has been a devote Christian her entire life. She was born and raised in the Bronx, New York and attended church weekly. After completing her sacrament of confirmation, she began teaching Sunday school to the kindergarten students of her church. She attended Catholic High School and continued to serve her church through the Ladies Mission Club and Sunday school. After graduating high school in 2005 Julie enlisted in the United states Navy. Throughout her eight years of service in the United states Navy she depended heavily on her relationship with Christ.
Julie has an Associate Degree from Florida State College of Jacksonville in Early Childhood Management. She also holds a bachelor’s degree from Florida State college of Jacksonville in Early Childhood Education. Julie will be completing a Masters’ degree in curriculum development with a focus on teacher leadership from Regent University this year. She had taught locally in Virginia Beach in both the public school system and in childcare. Julie is coming to Hope after being a successful center director and site manager for the Virginia Beach Head Start program.
Julie married her husband Brandon in 2010. Brandon is currently active duty in the United States Navy and stationed at Naval Station Norfolk. Together they have three children Charles who is 13 years old, Milinda who is 9 years old and Dominic who is 8 years old. At Hope Academy Julie now serves as the school director. She is focused on bringing both staff and families closer to Christ through her service in this important role.
